Jill – Mommy to be

I have known Jill for ten years now and she has become one of my dearest friends. I couldn’t be happier and more excited when I found out last summer that she and Phil, her husband, are expecting their first baby.

I couldn’t wait to drive up to Connecticut in March and spend a few days with Jill; she has the most perfectly round belly and her pregnancy has been good. We took a nice stroll in one of Southington’s park on the first springy warm day to create some beautiful maternity portraits.

Can’t wait to meet baby T. aka Half Pint!

Johanna+Harper+baby-in-belly

I met Johanna and Harper on the Upper West Side for the maternity portrait session. We made our way into Central Park as well.

This was the first part of the portraits; second session is coming up right after the baby is born.

It’s Earth Day and my birthday so…

I have decided to give something back.

I did this last year and it was such a great success I have decided to repeat it again this year.

In honor of Mother Earth and birthdays in general, I am giving one lucky couple a maternity portrait session and a newborn session.

Here it is how it works:

Anyone can apply who is expecting their baby sometimes between end of May and end of August 2009. It does not have to be your first baby.

The session will take place at a location of your choice. After the maternity session once the baby is born we’ll schedule the newborn portrait session as well.

Any couples who are interested please send me a recent photo of yourselves and a few sentences about yourselves. The last day to enter is Wednesday, April 29th by midnight.

The results will be drawn on May 1st and posted on the blog.

The fall months are usually really busy with family portrait sessions. Some kids I have been photographing for several years and it’s amazing to see how much they grow and how their personalities shape.

Here are some favorite portraits from the November and December sessions that were taken in the studio, on location and at the families homes.

I photographed Kay and Romy in early July just few weeks before the baby was scheduled to arrive.

We walked around in Park Slope with the new parents-to-be and took some lovely maternity portraits.

Claudia’s maternity session

I photographed Claudia at the end of November just a few days before Thanksgiving. It was a very mild day in New York City and we decided to start the photo session outside. Larry, Claudia’s husband also came along and we had such a great time. I wish more dads-to-be would participate in photo sessions.
Claudia and Larry live in the East Village and that’s where most of the photos were taken.
I love the East Village! It has so many buildings with wild colors, textures and just lots of character.
Claudia and Larry were awesome to photograph because they’re such easy going people who are very open to ideas.
