Morocco: Casablanca, Rabat and Volubilis ~ Travel photographer

Last year I traveled to Morocco with my husband and spent over a week visiting several towns and cities.

This is the first blog entry from my Morocco photos. The highlights include the beautiful Mosque Hassan II in Casablanca, the blue-white houses in the Rabat kasbah, the royal stables in Meknes and the amazing Roman ruins in Volubilis.

Met some wonderful Moroccan people along the way, ate many delicious tagines and meals and stayed at the most picturesque riads.

Kids, kites and art at Socrates

This morning I was looking out the window and saw dozens of kites flying above Socrates sculpture park in Long Island City. I thought it’s a good day to take a short walk, play around with my lensbaby in the park and check out the new sculptures.

I am such a lucky person that I get to share my birthday with the entire planet.

So where is the perfect place in New York City to celebrate Earth Day/birthday? The Brooklyn Botanic Garden!

In April the cherry and magnolia trees start to blossom and thousands of people flock to the garden to see them. Here are a few of my images I took today.

Orchids

Every year the New York Botanical Garden hosts a very special exhibition, the Orchid show.
It features thousands of beautiful orchids from dozens of different species. The colors, shapes and details of these flowers are just amazing.

Here are some of the images I took at the show. (I also sneaked in a fern because ferns are just so cool!)

One of the items on my Christmas wishlist was a special lens, called lensbaby.
One can create one of a kind images with this lens and many times the results are very surprising.
Since I got this lens for Christmas, this is only the second time I played around with it. It’s dramatically different from all the other lenses I have as you can bend this lens, push it, pull just to get something in focus.
I also need a lot more patience with this lens because it doesn’t always want to do what I want to create.
Anyway, here are some of the images I took randomly around the house.

Flushing Meadows Corona Park ~ New York photographer

I went to Flushing Meadows Corona Park, Queens to do a photo assignment.
If you visit New York City and you have a chance to get to the other boroughs such as Queens, this park should be on your must see list.
The park was hosting the World’s Fair in 1964-65, and now is home for the Unisphere, the Queens Museum of Art, the New York State Pavilion, etc.
I love the Unisphere, which is the largest globe in the world-you can see it from the subway, from several highways and from a long distance. It’s an official New York City landmark. Queens is the perfect place for the Unisphere because in this borough many different nationalities live from all over the world.
There’s a fountain under the Unisphere but during the winter the water is shot off so a lot of kids skate and rollerblade under the globe.
This park was also used in movies such as Men in Black.
