The significance of the wedding date

For many couples choosing the right date for their wedding is almost as important as picking the venue and reception hall to get married at.

Seven years ago, July 7th was the most popular wedding date of the year because of the triple sevens: 7/7/7.  According to Time magazine, it was the most popular wedding EVER.

Many celebrities also tied the knot on this day.  Why was it so popular I wonder?  Is it because easier to remember at anniversary time?  Is it because of the lucky 7 from the numerological point of view?

Triple number dates were always popular such as 8/8/8 and 10/10/10 especially if it fell on a weekend.

I am sharing a photo from Victoria and Joseph’s 7/7/7 wedding and wish them a very happy 7th anniversary!

Christine and Filipe’s romantic wedding at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden | Brooklyn, New York

What a beautiful and fun wedding Christine and Filipe had at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden!
The weather and Mother Nature cooperated with us and the couple had their romantic ceremony outside under a big willow tree.
The couple exchanged vows and rings in front of friends and families then celebrated into the night in the beautiful Palm House.

Christine got ready in Queens at her parents house with her bridesmaids and Filipe was getting ready at his parents Upper East Side apartment with his brother and childhood friends. The first look between Filipe and Christine took place in the Brooklyn Botanic Garden and Filipe was speechless how stunning Christine looked. We photographed all the couple’s portraits, the family and bridal party portraits in the garden.  My favorite spot was the field of blue bells and the small stone bridge.

It was so nice to see familiar faces; I had photographed three couples’ weddings, who were guests at Christine and Filipe’s wedding.

Congratulations to Christine and Filipe who enjoyed their honeymoon in Portugal.

Old Field wedding ~ Old Field, Long Island wedding photographer

This Throw back Thursday photograph was the last frame on Steve and Laura’s wedding day.  After a beautiful church ceremony, wedding portraits on the beach and a great reception party, the couple was sharing a last embrace and kiss at the end of their wedding day.  It was an intimate and lovely moment and I thought shooting through the door kept their moment private and uninterrupted. After their wedding I had the pleasure to work with other members of the family on weddings and family portraits.

Wedding at Guastavino’s in Manhattan, New York City

Jennifer and Brad got married and celebrated in Guastavino’s under the 59th Street/Queensboro Bridge.  It was a wonderful heartfelt ceremony with personal vows and a rocking reception with a pizza truck ending.

How amazing is that?

Jennifer and Brad had their first look in Union Square where they live and Brad proposed to Jennifer.  After the first look we headed over to Stuyvesant Park where we did the family and bridal party portraits.  We finished the portraits at the 59th Street/Queensboro Bridge just as the rain started.  The ketubah signing, the Jewish wedding ceremony and the reception took place at Guastavino’s, a fabulous and unique venue in midtown Manhattan by the East River.

Congratulations to Jennifer and Brad who are enjoying their honeymoon in Greece!

Brooklyn Bridge engagement ~ Brooklyn Bridge NYC

This Throw Back Thursday I am sharing one of my favorite engagement photos I took seven years ago on the Brooklyn Bridge.

It’s almost impossible to take photographs on the Brooklyn Bridge and not have dozens of people photobombing in your background.  Tourists and locals alike love the Brooklyn Bridge and there are hundreds of pedestrians and bikers on the bridge at any time.

So we had to start the session very early to beat the crowds and to get the bridge to ourselves.  This couple loves to dance and sing and the photo shows off their fun personalities well.

Now they live in London and have two beautiful children!
